2014

Francis

Dear Sam:

Congratulations on the good work in raising these important sums for the two Children’s Hospitals. You and your fellow members have done an excellent job for both healthy and less fortunate kids.

Keep up the good work, and best wishes for the Holiday Season and a healthy, safe and prosperous 2014 !

Congratulations on a great tournament again this year, your team of dedicated volunteers deserves a big cheer! My girls had a great time and they all contributed to the cause in raising money and we were happy to donate $510 as a team, our objective was $400.

Great job on the length of the opening ceremonies, I think you adjusted well to the feedback and I found this year to be very appropriate for all involved, especially for the players.

Best regards,

Sylvain Parent

"I was so happy to be among you last Sunday. How comforting it is to see how the International Cup Kids Playing for Kids is becoming year after year a robust and vibrant community movement.
Institutions such as our two children's hospitals need this community vitality so much.

In Québec, we have chosen to give ourselves a healthcare system that guarantees each citizen that he or she will be treated should he or she get sick. This open door however makes it challenging for specialized hospitals as funds are allocated to this universal access. But when a father or a mother walks into the Children's or Sainte-Justine with his or her sick child in his or her arms, thanks to people like you and your volunteers, we can offer them the proper equipment, adequately trained healthcare professionals and medical research that will ensure that we can offer our children the best possible care. As long as one single child is sick, we must continue relentlessly.

In the names of the thousands of families who rely on this great human chain of care, I thank you all. From the bottom of my heart."

Sam,

What an amazing event you have created! You not only promote child health on the soccer field but instill in your players an awareness of the need to help others and give back to their community. As a result of your efforts, children at CHU Ste Justine and The Children’s will be diagnosed more quickly, treated more effectively and sent home earlier. On their behalf, we thank you.

Sam,

Thomas story

Dear Salomon,

We'd like to share an incredible story with you.

At just 18 weeks old, Thomas came to The Children’s with a fever. No one was too worried because, as we know, kids get fevers pretty often. In fact, the only reason Thomas came to the ER at all is because it was Christmas day, and all the regular clinics were closed.

Doctors ran a few simple tests and discovered something no one was expecting: there was a hole in Thomas’ tiny heart, which was barely the size of a walnut. He was going to need open-heart surgery, fast.

The machine that allowed the cardiologist to spot the problem was a physiological monitor – and it may very well have saved Thomas’ life.

This piece of equipment, like so many others at The Children’s, is costly to upgrade but vital for doctors to rapidly diagnose and treat our kids.

That’s why your donations are so important. They’ve helped The Children’s acquire state-of-the-art equipment over the years, and they will allow us to remain on the cutting edge of pediatric medicine in the future.

On behalf of the patients like Thomas, thank you for making a difference!

From Ralph to Gillian

Bonsoir Gillian,

Fier qu’on me donne la chance

A commencé ensemble.

À ta mémoire on a crée
Un trophée qui sera remis
À chaque année
À une personne
Qui représente ses valeurs

Hello Sam,

Thank you so much for this event which year after year is attracting more
kids.
We had a great time.

Regards,

Raffi.

teamDear Sam,

On behalf of my team, I would like to thank you, your wife and your committee for bringing your dream of the International Cup to life.

We had a disappointing end to our house league season, as we lost in the semi-finals to a team we had previously beaten 6-0, because the field was unplayable and the game went directly to a shootout. We also lost our leading scorer for the season to a broken ankle midway through our house league playoffs.

In spite of these setbacks, the girls made the most of the opportunity provided by the International Cup and won gold! The competition was very strong and the girls surprised me and themselves by winning four close games in a row to end the tournament, including a shootout win in the quarter-finals and a thrilling overtime win in the gold medal game.

Sam, by making your dream a reality, you have made the dreams of many girls and their coaches to come true, and all this in the spirit of giving back to our community by helping the two children's hospitals. Thanks to you, our girls have learned valuable lessons and had a wonderful time.

Thank you Sam, you are an angel.

Hello Blair

First off, congratulations to yourself and everyone else involved in
the ICKFK tournament. As usual, you guys pulled off a remarkable job.
Our girls enjoyed the competitiveness and the friendly spirit of the
tournament.

We are already looking forward to the next one.
